Local News - Poker Tournament this Saturday - Storm Damage Report

Howdy!

I am in Anchorage, Alaska this morning, preparing to look at an immense private collection of older comics. I wish that I could say that my heart was in today's endeavors, but I really wish that I was in Denver today, helping our Mile High Comics team at our Jason St. Mega-Store clean up from the trauma of having all 42 of our huge skylights smashed out by Monday afternoon's epic hailstorm. I booked this trip a couple weeks ago however, and my ticket was non-refundable, so here I am.

Huge Storm Cloud

If you want more details about Monday's catastrophe, you can read a detailed account in the newsletter that I sent out yesterday to our worldwide (as opposed to local) mailing list. Having covered that ground before, I really rather prefer to not return. Instead, I am now focused on letting everyone know that we have cleaned up from the storm, and are putting all of our efforts into providing a fun experience for everyone visiting the Mega-Store. If you want to help us recover, please just try to stop by Jason St. and do a little shopping. Thank you!

Poker Flyer

My only other news for today is a quick plea to all the poker players who shop with us to please try to participate in this Saturday's Texas Hold'em tournament that we are hosting at Jason St. The game begins at 11 AM, and only costs $25 to join. If you pre-register (and pay) on Thursday or Friday at any of our three stores, you will receive a $25 gift certificate as a reimbursable of your entry fee. In effect, you get to play for free!

Happy collecting!

P.S. So you know, this particular poker tournament is very important to me on a personal level, as I made it a benefit for the Harvey Milk Foundation, an organization that advocates for GLBTQ rights around the world. May 22nd would have been Harvey's 87th birthday, had he not have been murdered. With homophobic hate crimes escalating around the world almost on a daily basis, I think it is important that we not forget Harvey's sacrifice in the cause of social justice. Funds raised from events at all 70 Imperial Courts during the month of May will be merged into a combined donation to the Milk Foundation by our Queen Mother I of the International Court System, Nicole Ramirez. Thank you for your support of this very worthy cause.
