LOCAL NEWS - Free Comic Book Day Update - New Offers
Howdy!
As you are probably already quite aware, tomorrow (Saturday) is the date for
Free Comic Book Day 2016.
To help make your participation especially fun we have stocked all 3 of our
Mile High Comics retail stores
with hundreds of copies of all of this year's popular
FCBD variants
(Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and Image)
and have taken special care to make certain that each of our stores also has a reasonable selection of
the harder-to-find
FCBD variants
from the smaller publishers. In total, we ordered a total of 30,000 FCBD
comics to give away this year!
DC SUPERHERO GIRLS #1 MILE HIGH edition
We also took advantage of a special offer from DC Comics to have our own exclusive variant edition printed
of the very cool
DC SUPERHERO GIRLS #1.
This rare Mile High Comics FCBD variant is only available through
our three retail stores,
and will only be offered for free on Saturday. As of Sunday, it will be treated
like any other limited edition MHC variant, and will be on sale in our variants cases at $9.95 each. The
main story in
DC SUPERHERO GIRLS #1
is based on Supergirl, but younger versions of Harley Quinn, Poison
Ivy, Wonder Woman, Cheetah, and Batgirl also appear.
BOOM STUDIOS 2016 SUMMER BLAST FCBD
The other big news for FCBD is that we are once again allowing the
Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire
to set up a booth in our
Jason St. Mega-Store
to solicit donations for the White Rose Scholarship Fund. Our general rules for FCBD will be the same as
last year, with anyone visiting the store receiving 3 tickets that allow you to select any of the
FCBD comics
at no charge. We then also issue you another FCBD ticket for each $10 you spend in the store that day.
CAPTAIN AMERICA FREE COMIC BOOK DAY
If you would like an alternative to making a purchase with us, however, you can do so by simply making
a $1 donation to White Rose for each additional
FCBD edition
you would like to choose. The folks at the
ICRME
booth will also have a very limited number of complete sets! of all 51
FCBD variants
(50 standard
editions plus our MHC variant) available as a reward for a $40 donation to the White Rose Scholarship Fund.
If you do want a complete set, please arrive early in the day, as we are expecting to run out of complete
sets rather quickly.
Empress 43 Norrie Reynolds and Emperor 43 Manual Sexton
On a related topic, thanks to the kind support of the voters of the Mile High Comics community, our good
friend Norrie Reynolds was elected Empress of the ICRME this year. If you would like your kids to meet a
real Empress, Norrie handles the role like she was born to the position! She will be wearing her Imperial
Crown all day, and will be signing free autographs as well as taking photos with kids and adults all day.
Norrie is a wonderful Empress!
LADY MECHANIKA FREE COMIC BOOK DAY
I will close today's newsletter with a quick recap of the incredibly generous in-store discounts that we
will be offering you in all of our stores tomorrow ONLY! Please enjoy these remarkably generous FCBD savings
with our sincere thanks for supporting Mile High Comics throughout the year.

CAPTAIN AMERICA 75TH ANNIVERSARY MAGAZINE #1 FREE with an $20.00 order or $2.00 each
P.S. I almost forgot to mention that we unearthed about 40 different FCBD variants from past years that will
be available only via the White Rose booth at
Jason St.
We also donated to White Rose 200 copies of an awesome
CAPTAIN AMERICA 75th Anniversary magazine
that Marvel produced in conjunction with the release of the new movie.
Copies of this remarkably beautiful magazine can be picked up at the White Rose booth in
Jason St.
for only a
$1 donation. Supplies are limited...
So you know, the White Rose Fund gave out $16,000 in scholarships to deserving students last June, and is about
to release a similar number of grants this year. It is a particularly beneficial charity for us to support, with
the vast majority of the donations that they receive being passed on directly to students in the form of grants.
Please support the White Rose booth in
Jason St.
on Saturday, and help some worthy students (who might otherwise
have to drop out), stay in school. I was there when they passed out their grants last year, and it was an
incredibly heart-warming experience. 'Nuff said...
