Last Chance for Free Comic Book Day Comics

Howdy!

As you probably have already read in my past newsletters, we recently closed our online fulfillment center on 56th Ave., and combined those operations into Jason St. This Herculean task required us to completely rearrange the huge Jason St. retail space in order to provide us with the room to move over six million back issue comics and magazines into the back area of the store. We also had to move all of our corporate offices (accounting, customer service, subscriptions, etc.) which added yet another layer of complexity.

The good news is that our move is now completed, and that all of our online operations are functioning again. The not-so-good news is that we have quite a bit of clean-up to do, which includes not only putting away dozens of pallets filled with miscellaneous from 56th (such as office supplies), but also catching up on all the orders that were placed via our website while we were moving. That having been said, our fulfillment team will be shipping over double the number of packages today that would constitute a "normal" shipping day, so our backlog is already melting away quickly. All of us here at Mile High Comics sincerely thank those of you who have been waiting for packages for your patience, and your understanding.

As an aside, complicating our restoration of service efforts has been the fact that our phone carrier from 56th (Comcast) was not able to provide us with multi-line service at 56th, as they have not yet extended their fiber system over to the Jason St. area. This has meant that we are having to go with an entirely new phone carrier (CenturyLink), who's new customer service team has been less than helpful to this point. In a nutshell, that is why our four phone numbers from 56th are still not being answered. Our requests for forwarding of those calls to Jason St. were not implemented, and since we have no other carrier available, our options for recourse are limited. We have no choice but to wait until they get around to us, which we are being told will be sometime later this week. Suffice it to say, this phone snafu has been the most frustrating aspect of our entire move.

SERENITY/HELLBOY/ALIENS FREE COMIC BOOK DAY

Moving on to news from the comics world, we had a record number of orders come in over this past weekend for the 2016 Free Comic Book Day variant editions that I offered on Friday. I will repeat that offer to you today (see below), but with the caveat that we are already seeing higher-than-expected demand for certain of the FCBD variants, and thus may run out. If you would like to lock in free copies of those 2016 FCBD variants, please place your order with us immediately, especially if you would like a complete set of all 50. Please note that we cannot accept any online FCBD requests after Friday at midnight, as we typically get stripped out by people attending our stores on Saturday. Orders containing FCBD variants will begin shipping next Monday, which is the first day allowed.

Finally, I will quietly mention that our 50% off TRUCKLOAD! codeword sale is the last promotion we are planning at half price for the foreseeable future. If you place an order with us right now you may have to wait a bit for your order to ship, but you will still receive the 50% off TRUCKLOAD! codeword discount. 'Nuff said.

Happy collecting!

P.S. Here are the details of our 2016 FCBD offer:

The 2016 Free Comic Book Day celebration will be held a week from tomorrow, on Saturday, May 7th. As we have done for every year for the past decade, we have stocked up heavily for you on all 50 of this year's exclusive FCBD variant editions. Our offer to you on these upcoming FCBD editions is the same as it was last year, which is that you can pick any one of the 50 variants for free for each $10 in orders that you place with us through next Friday. Simply place your order as per usual, and then list in the "notes" section of our online order form which FCBD editions you would like us to reserve for you. We will then start shipping orders containing FCBD editions on Monday, May 10th.

2000 A.D. FCBD MAGAZINE

As we did last year, we are also going to offer free complete sets of all 50 of the FCBD as a reward for placing any minimum $400 order with us. The number of complete sets we have available this year is quite limited, however, so I would urge you to act immediately if you would like us to send you a complete set.

BOOM STUDIOS 2016 SUMMER BLAST FCBD

One added benefit to complete set orders is that we will also include a free copy of our own Mile High Comics variant edition of this year's DC SUPERHERO GIRLS #1. We printed the minimum of only 5,000 copies of this cool store variant, and our variant will only be available through us. If you would like a free copy of our variant without ordering a complete set, it will require a $30 purchase.
