Mile High Comics Has Finished Moving

Howdy!

After four weeks of epic struggle, we finally finished our move out of our 56th Ave. headquarters building today. I cannot begin to adequately describe to you the difficulty of this monumental task, as we had six million comics and magazines to transport to their new home in our Jason St. Mega-Store, as well as the immense amount of steel shelving that six million comics require. A total of 20,000 long boxes were moved, which if placed end-to-end would create a single line about 45,000 feet long. That's an astonishing eight miles of comics. Whew!

Empty 56th

Complicating our move even further was the fact that all of those comics had to be moved quite carefully, as almost all of them were in order. This meant that we had to play "leap frog", with sections of shelving having to be moved in tandem with the comics that they held. We did gain quite a few empty shelving units by condensing out empty space (from comics that had sold) as we went, which is the only way that this very tricky maneuver succeeded. We are now loading the last of the comics on to that empty shelving. I am so very glad to be done...

On a closely related note, I want to apologize to those of you who have had orders up hung up in our system while we moved. Our intention had been to keep shipping right through the entirety of our moving process, but that became impossible last week, as just too many comics in our pulling files were inaccessible. We knew exactly where the comics were stored, but with 15,000 comics stacked per pallet, there was no way that we could keep filling orders. That having been said, we are now 95% unpacked, so we're going to be working down our backlog rather quickly. Again, we all thank you for your patience during this trying period.

In case you are wondering, we are also back in a position to begin accepting new orders. Any orders received this week, however, cannot be processed until all our earlier orders have shipped. That having been said, I have asked Will Moulton to keep our 50% off TRUCKLOAD comics sale in effect for you this week on all of our back issue comics and magazines. Only new comics, a few variants, trades, hardcovers, and our CGC-graded comics are excluded from this awesome half price comics sale. As long as you are willing to be patient, I urge you to go ahead and place your order with us while our half price sale is still in effect. Codeword sales are not going to be as generous in the future.

That's it for today. I now have to quickly unload my mini-van, and head back over to 56th for one last little load of odds-and-ends. I could not be happier!

Happy collecting!
