Benefit Comics and Toy Auction Saturday

Howdy!

Our benefit auction for the family of Karen Lopez will be held this Saturday morning, beginning at 11:30 AM. Karen was the 17 year-old girl from Aurora who died under mysterious circumstances when her car crashed into our Jason St. building at a high rate of speed at 2 AM on the morning of March 29th. We are holding this auction to help her family with covering at least some portion of Karen's funeral expenses.

As regards donations, we are now up to over 80 individual items that will be sold for no minimum bid, including some of the coolest comics, toys, and other collectibles that I have seen in quite some time. Photos of our most recent donations are posted for you at the end of this newsletter. This is far from a complete listing of what we will be auctioning on Saturday, however, as we fully expect that quite a few folks are waiting until they come to the auction on Saturday morning to bring their donations to us. That is just fine, as we have Jeff ready and waiting to receive all contributions to the auction. If you have any unloved items in your collection that you would be willing to donate help Karen's family, please bring them!

Another person who will be hoping for donations will be Trisha Muniz, our incredibly friendly telephone receptionist from our 56th Ave. headquarters building. Trish volunteered to run a bake sale during the auction for Karen, but she will definitely need help with this, as she cannot bake anywhere near enough to feed the crowd that we are expecting for the auction. If you, or someone in your family, can bake, please bring your baked good contributions to Trish on Saturday morning.

Finally, we have also been receiving a slew of small contributions of cash for Karen's funeral fund, ranging from $5-$50. If you cannot make the auction on Saturday, but would still like to help Karen's family, you can drop off a cash (or credit card) contribution at any Mile High Comics location between now, and 2 PM Saturday afternoon. I will be adding together the proceeds from the auction, the bake sale, and cash contributions up on Saturday afternoon, and presenting Karen's family with a single check. I doubt that we are going to raise enough to cover all of the costs of Karen's burial, but by working together, we can at least help her family's little bit in this time of incredible sadness.

Sincerely,

Chuck Rozanski,
President - Mile High Comics, Inc.
