Comics and Toy Auction This Saturday
Benefit For Karen Lopez Funeral Expenses

Howdy!

On this upcoming Saturday morning, April 11th, we will be hosting a benefit auction at Mile High Comics, 4600 Jason St., to benefit the family of Karen Lopez, the 17 year-old girl who was killed at 2 AM on March 29th when her car slammed into our building at a high rate of speed. The auction begins at 11:30 AM, and will feature a wide variety of donated items from members of the local fan community as well as the staff of Mile High Comics.

Karen Lopez

All donated items will be auctioned that day with no minimum bid, with 100% of the proceeds being immediately turned over to Karen's family to help cover her funeral expenses. Karen's family has told us that they will be in attendance that day, and they may be able to provide us with some insights about her life. As of now, we still have no clue as to what might have been the cause of the accident that took Karen's life.

If you are planning to attend the benefit auction, please be aware that you will need to park on the street that day. That is because the nice people over at the Dawn Foods warehouse (across the road from us) have told us that they are organizing a vintage car show for that same morning, also designed to raise money for Karen's family. They asked to use our parking lot, and I agreed. We do have plenty of parking spots on the streets around the Jason St. store, so this really is not a big deal.

As regards donating items for Karen's auction, we are still very much in need of additional items to sell. As the photos below illustrate, we have already received some very nice donations. Not enough, however, to do much toward offsetting the costs of her funeral. If you might have a couple of items in your collection that you no longer love, please bring them in to Jason St., and donate them toward this very worth cause. We will find them a good home, and help take just a little bit of the burden off of Karen's family. We will be accepting items right up to the time the auction begins, so feel free to bring them with you on Saturday morning.

Happy Collecting!
