Comic-Con Episode IV:
A Fan's Hope Poster

Today's special newsletter is to let those of you who are fortunate enough to live near a theater showing Morgan Spurlock's new documentary film, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope, be aware of the showtimes which are currently scheduled in Santa Monica, San Francisco, Portland, Philadelphia, Washington, New York, Brookline, MA, and Denver.

I say "currently scheduled," because I want everyone to know that these cities and dates are only the beginning, and that it may well turn out that this charming and entertaining documentary filmed at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con could well turn out to be a runaway hit. The reviews are coming in now from early media screenings, and all are very positive! What is critical to the future of the film in terms of getting on the schedule of many art cinemas, however, is the response to the early screenings. That is why I am asking those of you living in one of opening cities to attend a screening. If the first few theaters sell out, then it will be much easier for the film's distributor to negotiate additional dates, perhaps even in your town.

Another very important consideration will be if the film generates substantial word-of-mouth fan support. That is why I am letting all of you know that there is a Facebook page dedicated the film, where you can join with the 12,900+ fans who have already clicked "like" button as a show of support. There is also a web page specifically dedicated to the film, where you can download the poster, and view the trailer. Morgan Spurlock is also tweeting about the film, so you can sign up to receive his messages.

My final bit of information about Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope is that it will also be available as a Video On Demand download from some providers as of April 6th. I personally much prefer to see films in actual theaters, but VOD has clearly become an important venue, especially for films that cater to a specific audience.

I will close this special newsletter by offering you a money-back guarantee. I have now seen the entire film twice, and think that it will appeal to absolutely everyone who loves comics. That being the case, I think it totally safe to promise to you to issue a Mile High Comics merchandise credit to you for the full cost of your ticket (or VOD fee...), if you do not like the movie for any reason. 'Nuff said...

Happy Viewing!
