Marvel Comics Books On Sale Howdy! Word is circulating on the Internet that the initial orders for the upcoming AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2014) #1 came in at an astounding 500,000 copies! That number totally blows me away, as it has been many years since any single comic book sold such a staggering number. It is not every day that such an important first issue is released, however, so I guess there are very good reasons for this remarkable show of enthusiasm. I mention AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 because we are printing an exclusive Mile High Comics variant edition, which will be limited to only 4,000 copies worldwide. We are the only source for our variant edition, and I have been allowing members of this newsletter group place advance orders for up to five copies each with Greg and Mario in our new comics subscription area. That offer will need to end soon, however, as we are quickly approaching having 1,000 copies pre-sold, which is all we can allow. Our second 1,000 copies are reserved for over-the-counter sales, including during Free Comic Book Day (May 3rd), at Denver Comic-Con (June 12th - 15th), and at San Diego Comic-Con (July 23rd - July 27th). Amazing Spider-Man #1 Mile High All of the above having been said, I am reasonably certain that we will have fewer than 2,000 copies of our exclusive variant edition of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1 left by July 31st. Of that remaining number, 400 copies will be going into long term storage in my personal comics vault, 100 copies for each one of our four daughters. I have never before put any newly released comics away for our girls (or our grand kids... ), but it is not every day that a new Spider-Man #1 issue is released. Simply put, even if our extremely limited variant edition is in as high of demand in the future as I think that it may be, I still want our children to still be able to benefit, even after Mile High is completely sold out. Moving on to other news, we received an exceptionally large number of Marvel Comics trade paperbacks this week. Trish Muniz, who normally would take care of that task, has been extremely busy helping our Operations Vice President, William Murakami, with shipping orders. Thanks to her efforts (and those of about a dozen other people), we have reduced our backlog dramatically. I am estimating that the average order placed through our website now ships within 3-4 days, which is a vast improvement over where we were last month. On a related topic, our catching up our shipping allows me the freedom to keep our 50% off SWEETHEART codeword sale in effect for you on most of our back issue comics and magazines. We also still have a book sale in effect, with all of our backlist trade paperbacks on sale at 30% off, and all of our backlist comics hardback collections on sale at 20% off. Only new comics, a few variants, and our CGC-graded comics are excluded from the codeword sale. You can also still combine discounted books and comics into a single order to earn free shipping. Our free shipping minimums for comics orders in the USA remains at only $40, while most International comics orders over $100 ship for free. Book orders going anywhere do require small surcharges, which help us to help offset about half of the cost of the extra weight. Deadpool vs Carnage #1 My final item for today is a free giveaway offer on a title which was vastly under-ordered by comics retailers. Buried in the DIAMOND PREVIEWS listings last month was a solicitation for DEADPOOL VS CARNAGE #1. I have no idea why this title featuring such an exceptionally dynamic combination of characters did not catch everyone's attention, but it somehow just was missed.
