Howdy!

Greg and Mario have been on the phone non-stop today, signing up new subscribers to our upcoming series of Mile High Comics variant editions of SECRET WARS (2015) #1-#8. The standard first issue of this title is already listed as totally sold out from Marvel, even though it does not ship for another 7 weeks. We are presuming that is because it will have an enhanced cover (that they are printing overseas), but that is just our guess. Whatever the case may be, we highly encourage you to contact your local comics retailer, and make certain that you have your copy of this ground-breaking new Marvel series reserved well in advance.

Secret Wars #1

As regards our SECRET WARS (2015) #1-#8 variant series, Greg and Mario are still signing people up for all of the issues at only $19.95 each. You can contact them by phone (weekdays 9-5) at 303-455-2659, or write to them at nice@milehighcomics.com. While you can certainly order issues individually, it is a good idea to subscribe to all eight, as that locks in the current price for you. We only bill for each issue as it releases, so that definitely helps to spread out the cost.

In addition, I want to assure you that Mile High Comics variant editions are only available through us, we never wholesale our variants, and limit all individual subscriptions to just three copies. We strive to limit the availability of our variants because we want to make absolutely certain that we maintain the value of our exclusive editions for you in the collector marketplace. We do occasionally end up with copies remaining on some of our exclusive publications, but those go directly into our security vault, for later sale at an even high price. Our price maintainence program must be working, as we have been publishing variants now for more than four years, and not a single one of our 60+ exclusive editions has ever declined in value.

Princess Leia #2 Mile High

Before I leave the topic of our variants, I want to quickly mention that we just today received our copies of our exclusive variant edition of STAR WARS: PRINCESS LEIA #2, with it's exceptionally cool cover by Gabriele Dell'Otto. While our Mile High Comics issues #3-#5 of this series are still available for pre-order through Greg and Mario at $19.95 each, #1 and #2 are now priced at $24.95. Sales have been really brisk, so expect that our STAR WARS: PRINCESS LEIA #1 will rise to $29.95 by the end of next week.

Moving on to other news, we are continuing to receive a slew of orders from our latest half price comics sale. Our current secret codeword is 45YEARS!, which refers to how long I have been selling comics. Type 45YEARS! into the discount codeword line on our online order form, and our computer will automatically deduct 50% from the cost of your order on all qualifying items. Books, new comics, a few variants, and our GC-graded issues are excluded from the half price sale, our ten million+ back issues are all available to you at 50% off this week.

Princess Leia #1 Mile High

I want to close today's newsletter with an invitation for you to spend a few minutes with me on YouTube. To explain, even four years after its initial release, I am still receiving a great deal of feedback about my participation in Morgan Spurlock's wonderful documentary: Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope. While I was honored to be selected to be a member of the cast of that delightful documentary about San Diego Comic-Con, I frequently have to explain to fans of the film that the filmmakers had a pre-conceived story to tell, and thus only included footage that advanced that agenda. I was perfectly happy to work with them to make the film enjoyable, but some unintended misconceptions did result.

That having been said, I made the decision last week to begin filming a series of short videos about the history of Mile High Comics, and the underlying business philosophies that guide our day-to-day decisions. For those of you who were fans of the weekly "Tales From the Database" columns that I wrote for over five years for the now-defunct COMICS BUYER'S GUIDE newspaper, these short vignettes will seem quite familiar, as I am using some of those 160+ written columns as a starting point for topics I intend to cover.

Today's first YouTube installment is entitled "Mile High Comics - Secrets of the Mega-Store: Part One," and it acts as a vehicle for me to introduce everyone to some of the inner workings of Mile High Comics. As we did during the five years that we filmed my "COMICS LIVE!" cable TV series in Anaheim, CA, all of my comments are completely unscripted, and are entirely stream of consciousness essays. My sincere thanks go out to Chris Brunn, the Mile High Comics staff member who filmed this first episode. His talent in shooting hand-held video is just amazing.
