Marvel And DC Comics Variants

Howdy!

After a very productive weekend spent sorting back issue comics for you, I am happy to let you know that I found several exceptional groupings of scarce comics to add to our website inventory, including nearly 1,000 of the very hard-to-find brand new issues published during this past year by Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Boom!, Zenoscope, and Dynamite. Will and Reece will be grading those very scarce new comics releases for you this morning, which means that they will soon be available to you in our New-In-Stock links.

While Will and Reece will be concentrating on those 1,000+ new comics for you, Pam and Josh will be working to grade and enter into our website several thousand more of the Silver Age and Bronze Age comics that I just picked up during my last buying trip to the East Coast. Pam worked with me for four hours on Saturday, adding a full box of older Marvel and DC comics, as well as an exceptional collection of the very hard-to-find 1980's DC digest editions. All of Pam's additions from Saturday should be appearing for you in our New-In-Stock and Premium New-In-Stock links this morning.

The best news for you coming from all this Herculean effort on our part to sort our newly purchased comics is that we are extending for you our 40% Off WOODCHUCK codeword sale. This great sale applies to all eight million (!) of the back issue comics and magazines listed on our website. New comics, books, and other non-comics items are excluded from the 40% off sale, but the 40% off WOODCHUCK discount can still be applied to all of our modern back issue comics, as well our Golden Age and Silver Age publishers, such as Dell, Gold Key, Harvey, and Archie. The 40% off discount is also yours on all of the back issues listed in our daily New-In-Stock links. Simply put, our across-the-board 40% WOODCHUCK sale is our way of sincerely thanking you for all of your kind support. Please enjoy these 40% off savings with our warmest personal regards!

JLA Variants
In other news, you have only 24 hours left to place orders with us for the upcoming JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (2013) #1 state flag variant editions at our pre-release price of only $4.99 each. As I mentioned in Friday's newsletter, DC came up with the crazy idea of creating 54 different covers to this new #1 issue, with a complete set consisting of an American flag edition, 50 different state flag editions, plus covers featuring flags from Puerto Rico, Washington D.C., and (finally), a combo (digital download code) cover.

Since most comics retailers had no idea as to how to allocate their orders among the 54 possibilities, they were extremely conservative in their ordering. Many ordered only the American flag edition, and some additional copies featuring their home state. That being the case, we expect that there will be serious spot shortages of some of these JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (2013) #1 variants. We have absolutely no way of gauging which will end up being the rare states, however, so we are taking the unusual route of offering them all at only $1 over cover, but only until the official release date of this Wednesday.

Once all 54 of these variant editions actually release (and the scramble for the scarcer issues begins...) we will be at a flat $10 per issue, with no further discounts allowed. I apologize in advance for this unusual pricing, but with our having to break up complete sets in order to be able to offer you your choice among all the individual flag variants, we take on the risk of some states not selling at all...

In other news, ever since I first mentioned it in my Friday newsletter, we are being flooded with orders for our upcoming variant edition of IRON MAN #9. The word is apparently getting around that that Marvel has a major event occurring in this particular issue, as it releases just before the new Iron Man movie. Copies of our exclusive IRON MAN #9 variant edition can be pre-ordered at $6 each through Greg and Mario in our new comics subscription department. You can call them (weekdays 9-5) at 303-455-2659, or write to them for more details about pre-ordering at nice@milehighcomics.com.

Spidey #700 3rd Print
On a similar subject, Greg and Mario are also still accepting pre-orders at $6 each on our upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (2013) #1 and WOLVERINE (2013) #1 exclusive Mile High Comics variant editions. Both are shipping in March, which is just a couple of weeks away. Please do note, however, that we never wholesale our exclusive variant editions, so there is a strict 20-copy limit.

I will close today's newsletter with a couple more announcements about new comics. First, our experiment with offering newsstand editions on our website of many brand new comics was quite successful, so you can expect to see more newsstand editions listed very soon. Second, we just received the cover artwork to the 3rd printing variant to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #700. It features a fantastic take-off on the iconic SPIDER-MAN (1963) #100 cover, originally created by John Romita. That has always been one of my favorite Spider-Man images, and the new cover to #700 (with Doctor Octopus in the center...) looks great! Even with that exceptionally cool cover image, however, I suspect that this variant is going have a very low print run, as most comics retailers will not order later printings. That having been said, you can guarantee yourself a copy by pre-ordering this new variant edition of #700 through Greg and Mario, in our subscription department.

Happy Collecting!

P.S. Here is a sampling of just a few of the great back issues that we have been adding into New-In-Stock during this past week. All are eligible for the 40% off WOODCHUCK codeword. I will caution you, however, to place an order right away if you see an item that you would like in either New-In-Stock or Premium New-In-Stock. With a 40% off codeword in effect right now, we are selling many of our key back issue comics and magazines, just as fast as we can list them...
