Ten Million Collector Comic Books - Half Price WINTER Sale
Howdy!
We just completed a wonderful weekend here at
Mile High Comics.
Not only did our
Jason St. Mega-Store
attract hundreds of eager fans, but
our website
was also quite busy with orders coming in from all over the world. Nanette and I personally
thank everyone who helped make this one of very best January weekends, ever. Without your
kindness and support, we would not be able to keep going...

Another bit of success that we experienced this weekend was that our
New Era professional wrestling
event on Saturday night attracted somewhere between 250-300 avid fans. That's not quite a record,
but close. What is especially nice is that our number of regular attendees is growing steadily
larger as more wrestling fans become aware of the fact that we allow New Era to utilize our events
area. By next summer, I would not be surprised if we had over 400 fans for a single event. All
other considerations aside, the wrestlers who perform for New Era are remarkably talented and
entertaining!

In case you are wondering, we intentionally have left about a 3,000 square foot space vacant in
the center of our huge store specifically for staging local events. We have a full-size performance
stage built on one end, and seating for 300-400 people on the other end. Aside from wrestling, we
host autograph signing events for local comics creators, charity poker tournaments, Star Wars light
saber jousting, punk rock shows, and (in the past) drag shows/entertainment shows. We once even had
a couple celebrate a Star Wars-themed wedding in our store, with over 200 guests! Suffice it to say,
we try to utilize our wonderful building for as many positive community events as possible.
Jessica L'whor
Speaking of drag shows, I was contacted this morning by Jessica L'whor, the most spectacularly talented
of Denver's newest generation of divas. I am going to meet with her on Thursday to discuss our putting
on some all-ages benefit shows together in
Jason St.
on a monthly schedule, beginning in February. As
Bettie Pages, I represent the older generation of "Crowns and Gowns" drag performers, many of whom are
past 50 years old at this point. Jessica, in the other hand, represents the under-30 crowd, most of
whom emulate the incredibly dynamic performance style of the outrageous RuPaul stars. If we can bring
them together, melding our creative worlds should create quite a fun and entertaining group of shows
for everyone. I'll keep those of you who live in Colorado updated as we closer to a possible launch date.

Moving on to the world of comics, I am delighted to note that we will be hosting one of our awesome
no-minimum-bid comics, books, toys, and statues auctions
this Saturday morning at
Jason St.,
beginning at 11:30 AM. We do not have any sort of list put together yet for this auction, but here are
photos of just a few of the 500+ collectibles that we will be offering with no reserves. More photos on
Wednesday. There will also be a benefit
Texas Hold'em poker tournament
that day, starting at 10:30. I am personally donating $1,000 in Mile High Comics gift certificates as the
prizes. The charity the month is the
Matthew Shepard Foundation.
Register in advance at either of
our stores,
or you can also register the morning of the game.
