Ten Million Comic Books on Sale - 4 Days Remaining Howdy! I was up on a 30' ladder again today, for the fourth day in a row. Each day since last Friday, I have been replacing at least 30 4' long lightbulbs in our ceiling fixtures at Jason St. After completing the new comics and toys area this morning, I have now finished the core portion of the store, and can next seek to upgrade the dozen fixtures in our vast trade paperbacks/performance area. Our office and packing areas will be upgraded on Friday... Chuck on ladder Changing out 248 lightbulbs one-by-one is a slow and difficult task, but one that is also quite worthwhile. These newer bulbs not only provide better light for our staff and visitors, but they also use less than half of the energy of our older lightbulbs. Another benefit of my climbing to the ceiling of our store is that I can provide you with some aerial photos that I otherwise could never shoot. Here is a view of the trade paperbacks/hardbacks portion of the store, where we have about 5,000 books on display. There are another 250,000 books on shelves behind the wall that is barely visible on the left... Toys/Trades area As regards old comics, our order pulling area contains over two million single issues stored in 6,000 tightly packed long boxes that have been placed on immense linear runs of 8' high steel shelving. As online orders are placed with us, our staff is up and down ladders all day long, seeking out the specific issues needed for that day's shipments. We add even more "singles" to this vast system every day, so the number of titles and issue numbers that we can offer you continually grows. Singles shelves In addition to "singles" we keep vast numbers of comics in reserve in packs of ten of the same issue. The number fluctuates (depending on size), but our 22 huge ten-pack racks can hold about 3.5 million comics when fully loaded. Our store kitty, Cambridge, is in charge of that department. She takes no prisoners. Need I say more? Cambridge!
