X-Men (1963) #7
First appearance of Cerebro. "The Return of the Blob" is written by Stan Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby and Chic Stone. Let the band strike up Pomp and Circumstance! The X-Men have graduated! With diplomas in hand, the merry mutants celebrate the completion of their high school years with a group photograph. But while the moment is filled with pride, it also filled with some sadness as their beloved Professor X informs his students that he is leaving for a time to pursue a mysterious personal quest. A group leader is to be appointed before he leaves, however. Meanwhile, the bickering Brotherhood of Evil Mutants stand in marked contrast to the congenial X-Men as the lovely Scarlet Witch fends off the lecherous leanings of the Mastermind.
As Magneto hatches his newest plan for world domination, Prof. X tells Cyclops he will be the X-Men's group leader and introduces the young mutant to a new device capable of tracking mutant movements anywhere in the world: the wondrous machine known as Cerebro (mistakenly referred to just once as Cyberno). It isn't long after the Professor leaves that Cyclops sees the powerful device in action as it alerts him to the revived memories of the incredible Blob. The massive mutant, who is immovable and invulnerable once his feet are planted, has shed the mental blocks placed on his mind by Professor X (in issue #3) and has joined with Magneto and his evil mutants! The X-Men must act for the first time without Prof. X's mental guidance to put a stop to the master of magnetism's nefarious plans.
