Description

Thor (1962) #90
Cover by Jack Kirby. Journey into mystery with these fantastical tales of the adventures of Thor and other otherworldly adventurers. First, the God of Thunder takes on a warlord and his son from the planet Xarta and finds himself "Trapped by the Carbon-Copy Man!" (written by Stan Lee with art by Larry Lieber). As mild-mannered Dr. Don Blake, Thor cannot reveal to his true love Jane Foster that he has the heart of a warrior. But when the rules of society seem turned on their head, he realizes it's the beginning of an alien threat he cannot ignore.

Transforming into Thor out of the sight of Jane, Thor is nearly arrested by police at the Mayor's order, more proof that something has gone seriously wrong with everyday life. Scouring the city for clues, he finds a spaceship hidden in the trees of Central Park. There, the shape-shifting Xartans reveal themselves and challenge the son of Odin to a fight to the finish! Next, an elderly couple behind the Iron Curtain gains the aid of a mysterious young man as dedicated to freedom as they are. They call him "The Midnight Caller!" (written by Lee, with art by Steve Ditko). Finally, an unscrupulous man gains control of a mighty robot and finds that even though the automaton will obey his every command, justice will still have its way in the end! "I am a Robot!" is written by Lee and Lieber with art by Joe Sinnott.
