Conan (1970) #29
"Two Against Turan!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by John Buscema and Ernie Chua. Freshly arrived in Aghrapur, capital city of the desert empire of Turan, Conan can be forgiven for not understanding how seriously its inhabitants take their worship of the Living Tarim. A poorly timed comment on their religion makes the Cimmerian the target of many curved blades. And although he takes quite a few of the fanatics down with his flailing sword, Conan knows he cannot stand for long against an angry mob.
Conan is helped into a hiding place off Aghrapur's busy streets by a man named Ormraxes who asks him for a favor in return. Honor-bound to the man who saved his life, Conan agrees to help the stranger but hasn't time to hear the details of Ormraxes' request before the pair is fallen upon and overcome by Turanian foot-soldiers. Later, after Ormraxes has been taken away, Conan is approached by a mysterious hooded man who asks him to break Ormraxes out of prison. That's a task the barbarian can do fairly easily but he soon finds out that by returning a favor, he may have unleashed an ancient evil!
