Captain America (1968) #388
Cover by Ron Lim. "Deep Sixed" is written by Mark Gruenwald and drawn by Rik Levins and Dan Bulanadi. As our story begins, Cap, the Paladin and astronaut John Jameson are plummeting from the sky after their parachute lines have been cut by the technological horror known as M.O.D.A.M. (Mental Organism Designed for Aggressive Maneuvers). Plunging into the ocean, Cap is able to rescue John Jameson and he and Paladin are just barely able to fight off M.O.D.A.M.
Meanwhile, 50 nautical miles away a cruise ship sails through the Mid-Atlantic with no one but villainesses aboard. Organized by the Red Skull's apprentice Superia, this flotilla of femme fatales includes Diamondback, Asp, Black Mamba and Anaconda of the Serpent Society, along with Quicksand and Impala. But as the girls discover quickly, it's not all fun and games: Anaconda and Quicksand throw down on the Lido Deck while below Diamondback gets roundly defeated by the mysterious assassin called Snapdragon! Meanwhile, the Red Skull fights a quartet of Captain America wannabes in "Slaughterhouse" (written by Gruenwald and drawn by Larry Alexander and Dan Panosian).
