ACTION COMICS (1938) (#0-600, 643-904) (DC) #379 - Plot Synopsis
Action Comics (1938) #379
"The Eliminator!" During the late 1960s and early 1970s, the occult gained popularity through the box office success of Rosemary's Baby, the Exorcist and the Omen. On TV, Dark Shadows became a cult phenomenon. DC answered the public's call for all things supernatural by revitalizing its horror line and adding new titles designed to frighten its fans. Even its super-hero books jumped on the spooky bandwagon as evidenced here by Superman's ghastly go-round with a ghoul.
But what starts out as a fiendish mystery about a mystic reaching out from beyond the grave to curse the friends of Clark Kent abruptly turns into a sci fi tale of intergalactic justice, proving the writers couldn't wait to get the Man of Steel out of the cemetery and back into more familiar territory. Also, the Legion of Super-Heroes encounters a solar-powered super-villain while trying to find out which "One of Us Is An Imposter!"
