ULTIMATES (2002) #9 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Ultimates (2002) #9
Written by Mark Millar and drawn by Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary. At the Red Lion Bar in Chicago, Captain America catches up with Hank Pym, who has been on the run since sending his wife, the Wasp, to the hospital after a violent rage. Pym's despicable act of domestic abuse and subsequent flight from the law so offends Cap's sense of justice, he calls out his teammate for a brawl in the street. Daring and then demanding that Pym call upon the power of Giant-Man to defend himself, Cap lays into the apologetic scientist. When Pym does shoot up to his 30-foot tall form, it looks for a time like he has the Star-Spangled Avenger on the ropes.

However, the Living Legend of World War II has maneuvered Giant-Man right where he wants him; into an abandoned construction site. There, with the same bravery he called on recently to take on the Hulk, Captain America schools the titan in the art of combat. Its first lesson: the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Back at S.H.I.E.L.D., a still-imprisoned Bruce Banner and Betty Ross share a laugh over Pym's ignominious defeat but their talk turn serious when Betty explains the growing threat of the alien invaders, the shapeshifting Chitauri. A team is being assembled to assault a Chitauri base discovered in Micronesia. Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor and Iron Man are on board for the mission. They are joined by Nick Fury and Cap, who finds Janet Pym none too grateful for his payback inflicted on her husband.
