SGT. FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS ANNUAL (1965) #1 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos Annual (1965) #1
Three bullet-ridden tales of battle starring Marvel's number one field soldier--Sgt. Fury in his first annual. In an original story, Fury gets a "Commission in Korea!" (written by Stan Lee and drawn by Dick Ayers and Frankie Ray) as he and the Howlers continue to battle for America after the end of World War II. The commandos and Captain Happy Sam Sawyer strike at a Red Chinese MiG base across the 38th parallel. After successful completion of this top secret mission, Fury receives his stripes becoming a 2nd Lieutenant.

Then, in a story first printed in Sgt. Fury #4, the Howlers ensure a traitorous Nazi propagandist can no longer attack the morale of the brave British citizenry. In "Lord Ha-Ha's Last Laugh!" (written by Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby and George Bell), Sgt. Fury meets and falls in love with a Red Cross volunteer in the bomb-blasted streets of London. But later when he meets her family on their palatial estate, he realizes the woman's brother is Lord Ha-Ha, a radio personality working for the fascists. A daring raid into Berlin ends the traitor's disheartening broadcasts but at a deadly cost: the death of Howler Jonathan "Junior" Juniper. Then in a story reprinted from Sgt. Fury #5, Sgt. Fury responds to a Nazi aristocrat's boastful dare and finds himself "At the Mercy of Baron Strucker" (written by Lee, art by Kirby and Bell). Plus, pin-ups and extras galore!
