Plot Synopsis: Red Wolf (1972) #5
Cover by Gil Kane. "The Man Who Gunned Down Red Wolf!" is written by Gardner Fox and drawn by Syd Shores and Chic Stone. As the living Owayodata of the Cheyenne people, Red Wolf is tasked with keeping the peace between the red man and the white. But when a greedy cattle rancher hires a gunfighter to kill Red Wolf so that he can seize water from sacred Native American land, our hero is hard-pressed to stop the coming conflict. Fast John Silver is the quickest gun in the West and proves it by gunning down Red Wolf without a fight.

Luckily, Red Wolf's medicine pouch stops the bullet and spares his life and so he can still try to stop the Cheyenne's hot-headed leader Long Spear from attacking the first white people he sees. But getting the tribe and the U.S. Cavalry to believe his story and convincing the wealthy rancher to leave the sacred waters alone takes some quick thinking on Red Wolf's part and the help of some ghosts. And then Red Wolf has to have his final showdown with Fast John Silver!
