RAWHIDE KID (1955) (#1-151) (MARVEL) #61 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Rawhide Kid (1955) #61
The Rawhide Kid finds himself fighting side by side with the legendary Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane as he takes a job riding "Shotgun to Deadwood!" (written by Gary Friedrich and drawn by Dick Ayers and Vince Colletta). Fans of the hard-edged HBO original series Deadwood will find little familiar about this version of the legendary Wild Bill and Jane but it's good clean fun nonetheless. While protecting a stagecoach on its way to the Dakota Territories, Rawhide Kid finds himself in a war with Native Americans stirred to violence by Black Jack, an enemy of Wild Bill's.

Although the braves take Jane and the civilians with her hostage, the Kid and Wild Bill manage to track them back to their camp and execute an ambush. In the ensuing fight, Calamity Jane proves she's no damsel in distress and the Rawhide Kid gains an ardent admirer! Then, two owlhoots threaten to shoot the Marshal of a small Kansas town for vendetta's sake. But they didn't count on the Marshal, one Morgan Earp, bringing in his brother Wyatt for help. "Blood is Thicker!" is written by Friedrich with art by Tom Sutton.
