POWER MAN/IRON FIST (LUKE CAGE, POWER MAN #1-49) (1972) #4 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Power Man #4
"Cry Fear ... Cry Phantom!" is written by Archie Goodwin with powerful art by Billy Graham. Pity poor Luke Cage, trying to catch some shut-eye after a hard day of being a Hero for Hire, only to be visited in his apartment above 42nd Street's Gem Theater by a glowing specter. With floating hands and glowing eyes of menace, the cloaked apparition lashes out at the young hero, grabbing his throat with murderous glee. Cage fights back as only he can and rips away the specter's hood to reveal a green, scarred hideous face beneath. After the ghost disappears, Cage can hardly believe what he saw let alone convince his pal D.W. of what cannot be.

Cage discovers the creature was looking for something that used to hang on the wall of his apartment, an old photo of the actor Adrian Loring. When D.W. finds the old portrait, Cage realizes this is the man he fought--even though the thespian died in the late 1940s in a fire at the theater. Cut to the office of Dr. Noah Burstein, a physician who helps out Cage and others from Harlem. Cage finds his office being wrecked by a patient, a mute man-mountain from Haiti known as Jacques. Only the dwarf Armand can calm him. But the strange incident leads Cage to another near-deadly encounter with the phantom of 42nd Street. And once Cage puts one and one together, he solves this tragic mystery with revenge at its heart.
