PACIFIC PRESENTS (1982) #2 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Pacific Presents #2
Featuring the Rocketeer and the Missing Man. "The Rocketeer Chapter 4" is written and drawn by Dave Stevens. The place: Hollywood, Calif. The time: pre-World War II. Stunt pilot Cliff Secord has found an experimental rocket pack capable of sending a man high into the clouds, soaring like a bird. But as exciting as that prospect is, Cliff finds his spirits grounded after losing his job in the air circus and finding his stunningly beautiful girlfriend Betty is too busy posing for "art photos" to spend time with him. Filled with disappointment and jealousy, Cliff checks in with his gear-wise buddy Peevy, who has modified the jetpack and learned more about its control system. After Cliff dons the stylized helmet of the Rocketeer and takes it for another test-run, he's visited by two mysterious strangers a dandy gentleman and an apelike bruiser (shades of Doc Savage!).

After they demand to know where the rocket pack is, Cliff sends them on a wild goose chase to Betty's apartment where the odd pair break in on one of her risque photo sessions. Warning Peevy of recent events, Cliff takes the jetpack and hides in Peevy's car. When the gentleman and the tough guy show up again, they demand Peevy drive with them to Clover Field where their boss is waiting. Hid away in Peevy's backseat, Cliff tries to figure out how to get out of this pickle but before he hits on a plan, the true owner of the rocket pack discovers him and demands the device's immediate return. Plus, comics legend Steve Ditko presents "The Missing Man Meets the Payne Family;" an allegorical tale of a dysfunctional family of murderous thieves and how one boy finds redemption in virtuous acts.
