JSA: UNHOLY THREE (2003) #2 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: JSA: The Unholy Three #2
An Elseworlds saga written by Dan Jolley and Tony Harris with art by Harris and Ray Snyder. Zod is the Kryptonian criminal sent into the Phantom Zone prior to his planet's destruction for releasing a plague on his fellow citizens while just a teen. But when he was accidently freed by Earth scientists and placed in the foster care of an elderly Kansas couple, he grew into Superman, the U.S. military's most powerful secret weapon. Hiding behind a facade of patriotism, Superman seeks out the Trigger, a Soviet-built device that could bring down Nuclear Winter on the planet; for radiation is the one thing that can penetrate his super-dense skin.

The Bat and the Clock, who had been trying to solve the murder of several costumed agents of the government, only discover his treachery after Superman savagely turns on Sandman and then the Lantern in order to discover the location of the Trigger. Once his true nature is known, Superman races the heroes to Siberia where the powerful weapon lies. In order to defeat the Kryptonian before he is unbeatable, the Bat calls in all of the reserves - the Tornado, the Atom, the Star, the Huntress, Mercury and the Hawk. The ensuing battle is more of a slaughter than a fight as Superman wades through the heroic defenders of Earth. Only by making himself momentarily as powerful as the Man of Steel through a formula developed by Mr. Terrific can the Bat hope to defeat him!
