DOCTOR STRANGE (1968) (#169-183) (MARVEL)(DR. STRANGE) #169 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Doctor Strange #169
Premiere issue! "The Coming of Dr. Strange." The Master of the Mystic Arts celebrates the first issue of his own title with a retelling of his origin. As Dr. Stephen Strange, his skill as a brilliant neurosurgeon was matched only by his arrogance. Seeking only money and the trappings of worldly wealth, Strange was a man seemingly bereft of a soul. But a hurried, midnight trip down a slippery mountain roadway changed all that forever. The resulting accident left him unable to use his hands for the delicacy of an operation ever again.

Unable to hold a scalpel and possessing no other skill, Strange tore through his riches seeking a cure. Finally, a destitute wreck haunting seaside bars, he heard stories of the Ancient One, a mystic high in the Himalayas who could work miracles. Pushing forward through a blinding snowstorm, Strange found the hidden sanctuary of the man he sought. And more wondrously, he found the legends to be true. But before the Ancient One welcomed Strange to his home, he took in Baron Mordo as a student. And in Strange, Mordo sensed a mortal enemy. Then Strange acted unselfishly to save the Ancient One from Mordo's murderous treachery, bringing him one step closer to becoming Dr. Strange, the hero that was his destiny. Roy Thomas writes and Dan Adkins pencils.
