DETECTIVE COMICS (1937) (#0-881) (DC) #411 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Detective Comics #411
First appearance of Talia, daughter of Ra's Al-Ghul. In a story written by Denny O'Neil and drawn by Bob Brown and Dick Giordano, Batman finds he must descend "Into the Den of Death-Dealers" in order to stop the evil deeds of the international League of Assassins. In the torch of the Statue of Freedom at midnight, the Dark Knight meets someone willing to blow the whistle on Dr. Darrk, the leader of the League of Assassins. But two cloaked murderers get to the stoolie first. As he dies, the informant tells Batman that Darrk will ride the Soom Express in the Orient tomorrow.

The rickety, coal-driven train traverses between two warring Asian nations, and Batman, in disguise, is able to trail Darrk and his mysterious and lovely companion. Jumping from the train when it slows down to go up a hill, Darrk sets a trap for Batman, who follows and falls to a savage attack by bo stick-wielding masters. Awakened with his mask removed by the lovely Talia, Batman realizes he's scheduled to die soon in an underground arena. When Darrk's men unleash a maddened bull on the Caped Crusader all seems lost. But Batman always manages to come out alive and chases Darrk to the edge of the tracks. By Talia's hand, Darrk is killed but Batman wonders if this isn't the end; but instead the very beginning of his troubles with the League of Assassins. Plus, a groovy Batgirl tale in which our pretty heroine nearly dies for fashion in "Cut and Run," written by Frank Robbins with art by Don Heck and Dick Giordano.
