DC COMICS PRESENTS (1978) #11 WHITMAN - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: DC Comics Presents (1978) #11
Starring Superman and Hawkman. "Murder by Starlight!" is written by Cary Bates with art by Joe Staton and Frank Chiaramonte. Cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. Superman has just returned to the present from the days of World War II where he was thrown by a terrific bomb blast; an explosive device hidden in an award given him in gratitude by the people of France. Upon his return, he quickly realizes the source of the booby-trap, his (supposed) good friend and fellow JLA-er Hawkman! As the Winged Wonder swoops down to attack the Man of Steel, Superman wonders not only why he's being attacked but also where Hawkman got such terrific super-strength!

After an inconclusive battle, the two former colleagues get separated and Superman returns to Metropolis and the Daily Planet, where he meets Long Island resident Marc Teichman (an actual reader who won a contest to appear in DC Comics) whom he's to spend the day with. Although he's happy to give the fan a thrilling show of strength, Superman can't stop thinking about what might have happened to Hawkman. Soon, he has his answer, however, as the Thanagarian attacks once more with the full power of the star Polaris in his fists!
