CONAN (1970) (#1-275) (CONAN THE BARBARIAN) (MARVEL) #34 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Conan (1970) #34
Cover by Gil Kane. "The Temptress in the Tower of Flame!" is written by Roy Thomas with art by John Buscema and Ernie Chua. Adapted from the novel "Flame Winds" by Norvell W. Page. Conan, now in the employ of the army of Turan, has traveled east to Khitai to spy on the magical city called Wan Tengri. There he has been cast into arena combat against seven warriors. Defeating them all, he seeks to claim his beautiful prize: a lovely veiled princess. But when Conan removes her veil, he stands in horror at the gleaming skull beneath. The princess is Death personified!

Although horrified by his discovery, Conan remembers the ancient prophecy that any man who can hold Death long enough can ask her one question that she must answer. The query with which he gambles his life is how one man may rule Wan Tengri. Death whispers her answer in his ear and in a moment, Conan knows what he must do. Using her secret as a means to set the Seven Wizards of Wan Tegri against each other, Conan uses their ensuing combat to cover his escape! But still he must face the malevolent Manticore!
