CHARLTON BULLSEYE (1981) #5 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Charlton Bullseye (1981) #5
"Who in this world is Warhund?" A warrior of a forgotten world. A loyal son of a kingly father. And a swordsman beyond compare. Visit the "Lair of the Assassin," a tale of sorcery, swords and science written by Bradd Mielke and drawn by Charles "Atlas" Truog. On a world like, and yet unlike, our own, Warhund marks his passing with heroic deeds and raucous carousing. But one such evening of wanton delight is rudely interrupted by a young boy claiming that Warhund's father is dying. Commanding the boy to take him back to where his father lies, Warhund becomes as a man possessed, driving the messenger to exhaustion and beyond.

His destination is Vectus, the glimmering capitol of Translantra, where his father King Pythagor wastes away. Along the way, starving wolves attack Warhund and the boy. Nobly the young boy gives his life for his liege. Touched by the youth's bravery, Warhund presses on. Finally, at Pythagor's death bed, Warhund hears from his father's aged lips the tale of how Assassin came to spell his end. Gifting his son with a powerful jewel necklace, Pythagor passes on. A vengeful Warhund soon confronts Assassin, a man he thinks a wizard, who is in reality a scientist. Using science, Assassin has created robotic guards of terrible power. Warhund's blade and his exploding jewels get him through but the young prince is stopped in his tracks by Assassin's story of how Pythagor has lied. Could Warhund's beloved father really have been a bloody tyrant, once of Earth, whom Assassin brought to justice?
