CHAMBER OF CHILLS (1972) (#1-25) (MARVEL) #16 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Chamber of Chills (1972) #16
Cover by Gil Kane. A trio of terrifying tales from Marvel's timeless tombs. First, a scientist obsessed with finding the secret of traveling through time, rejects science for black magic. After months of fruitlessly supplicating the "Black Magician" to grant him the power to move forward into the future or backward into the past, Professor Wilkins finally stumbles upon the answer. He hunts down the last remaining relative of a Salem witch who just happens to be in the middle of trying to rescue her sorcerous ancestor from being burned at the stake in the 17th century. He overhears the crone say the key to time travel is "A Room Without A Door." Buying the home out from under the old woman, Prof. Wilkins ransacks the house in an attempt to find the "Room." Instead, he finds only the gateway to his own destruction (originally presented in Strange Tales #5).

Then, a newly hired security guard at the Berlin Gardens Aquarium takes an instant dislike to the eccentric curator Dr. Heiden and his pet octopuses. Warned to stay away from the animals, the curious guard nevertheless ignores the curator's instructions and taps away at the aquarium's glass wall in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the elusive male of the pair. But his persistence only gets him in bigger trouble when he discovers the secret behind Dr. Heiden's strange appearance. "Do Not Feed" was drawn by Tony DiPreta and originally presented in Weird Worlds #9. Finally, a lovely but soulless socialite throws a "Masquerade Party" in an attempt to ruin the evening of a romantic rival. But during the event, she meets a devilishly handsome man who seems to be her perfect mate ... until it comes time for all guests to unmask! (Art by Steve Ditko, originally presented in Strange Tales #83).
