AVENGERS (1963) (#1-402) (MARVEL) #72 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Avengers (1963) #72
First appearance of the Zodiac. Guest-starring Captain Marvel. "Did You Hear The One About Scorpio?" is written by Roy Thomas and drawn by Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger. City officials turn up missing and Captain America calls an emergency meeting of the Avengers to discuss the crisis. Rick Jones, Cap's former sidekick, also shows up to tell the heroes of a recent encounter between Captain Marvel and the mysterious villain known as Scorpio, which he thinks may be related to the kidnappings.

No sooner is the criminal's name mentioned, however, than the Avengers are surprised to receive a video message from Scorpio himself, revealing that the city officials were taken hostage as a ruse to bring them all together. Scorpio springs his trap and caught by surprise, the Avengers are overcome and taken captive by the Scorpio's gang, an international crime cartel called the Zodiac! But the final surprise comes when Nick Fury returns dramatically from the grave!
