ASTONISHING X-MEN (2004) (#1-68) (MARVEL)(JOSS WHENDON) #23 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Astonishing X-Men (2004) #23
Story by Joss Whedon and drawn by John Cassaday. Seemingly stranded on Breakworld while its alien inhabitants pursue a plan to destroy Earth with a gigantic space-based missile, the X-Men appear to have lost both the battle and the war. Team-leader Cyclops has supposedly died and before long Wolverine and a young mutant recruit become prisoners of Breakworld's brutal dictator Kruun.

However, just as things seem their bleakest, the X-Men spring back and put into action their deeply hidden plans to turn the tables on Kruun and his minions. Each mutant hero plays his part in this counterstrike and it goes off flawlessly, kicked off by the dramatic return to life of Cyclops and his extraordinary eyebeams. And still, the Breakworld prophecy that Colossus would spell the planet's doom looms ahead of our group as the young Russian mutant continues to wonder if the ancient story might be true!
