ALL-STAR SUPERMAN (2005) #11 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: All-Star Superman (2005) #11
Here's the penultimate chapter of Grant Morrison's brilliant run with DC's most familiar iconic super-hero. Morrison uses the same characters familiar to any one who knows Superman: Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Lex Luthor, and makes each of them a "super" exemplar of their core characteristics. Morrison's Luthor is not the subtle, politically manipulative mover from behind the scenes as popularized in TV's Smallville, for example. This Luthor is a mad menace beyond most mortal's imaginings of evil.

Superman is dying; ironically being killed by over-exposure to the very thing that gives him his incredible powers while on Earth: the Sun. Meanwhile, Luthor escapes the electric chair by giving himself Superman's powers for 24 hours. With the help of Solaris, the Sun-shaped villain, Luthor manages to turn our Sun into a Red Sun, thereby robbing the Man of Steel of his powers. But that's the end of his villainy and as Clark Kent writes his own obituary headlined "Superman Dead," Luthor prepares the coup de grace! Art by Frank Quitely.
