ADVENTURE COMICS (1938) (#32-503) (DC) #344 - Descriptive Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Adventure Comics #344
"The Super-Stalag of Space!" Move over Hogan's Heroes. When the Legion of Super-Heroes become prisoners of one man's war on the law, this is no laughing matter. Responding to an intergalactic message calling for the Legion's help, the teen champions of tomorrow don't hesitate in flying off to a distant, unnamed planet. But once they enter orbit and see the massive penal colony that's been built there, it's too late to reconsider. A force beam of incredible power tears their ship apart, sending the heroes plummeting to the ground. Saved by their trusty flight rings, the Legionnaires fly in to investigate and are introduced to their host; the three-eyed, crimson-faced space criminal Nardo.

Nardo, and his super-strong android duplicates, swiftly overpower Chameleon Boy, Brainiac 5, Invisible Kid, Cosmic Boy, Element Lad and Matter-Eater Lad. Cowed by Nardo's nuclear-powered blood which allows him to cast off devastating bolts of power, the Legionnaires settle into their Spartan prison barracks. There they meet fellow prisoners Plant Lad, Shadow Kid, Blockade Boy and Weight Wizard. Nardo's plan is to imprison all of the lawmen of the universe. Even Superboy, whom the Legionnaires find breaking rocks in the prison yard, has apparently fallen to Nardo's power. When even the Boy of Krypton (secretly a Durlan posing as Kal El) is killed trying to escape, the prisoners begin to lose hope. Then, Matter-Eater Lad and Blockade Boy hatch a desperate plan 'Let's eat our way to freedom!'
