JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (1960) (#1-261) (DC) #15 - Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Justice League of America (1960) #15
"The Challenge of the Untouchable Aliens!" 1962 was a year filled with an odd mixture of fear and frivolity. While the Soviets planted missiles in Cuba and forced President Kennedy to draw a line in the sand, Americans engaged in a fascination with Polynesian culture: music, art, food, drink and all things Tiki. So the introduction of huge Tiki aliens to the DC Universe at this juncture comes as no surprise. What is surprising is the sudden disappearance of massive weapons of nuclear destruction from the U.S., the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom.

The Justice League of America gathers to investigate the phenomena and finds stone giants threatening three major cities Tokyo, Japan; Brasilia, Brazil; and Central City in the U.S. Splitting into teams (as was de rigeur for the JLA in those days), they confront the massive aliens and stop their use of the stolen weapons. But oddly, the heroes find that while they can be manhandled by the giants they cannot touch them back. This conundrum is eventually solved by the Green Lantern who also tracks the aliens back to their home dimension. There, the JLA finds out not everyone that looks and acts like an enemy needs to be vanquished. Snapper Carr delivers the final beatnik words of peace: "Beam in the get the caper! Listen to the little men and all the far-outs will be in orbit!"
