FANTASTIC FOUR (1961) (#1-416) (MARVEL) #313 - Bibliography

Plot Synopsis: Fantastic Four #313
Guest-starring the Black Panther. "The Tunnels of the Mole Man!" is written by Steve Englehart and drawn by Sal Buscema. The Thing, now cosmically altered to be as strong as the Hulk, leads a similarly changed Fantastic Four. Ms. Marvel now resembles the lumpy orange mass that the Thing once was. The Human Torch is still trying to find out just how he feels about working closely again with Crystal, the Inhuman and estranged wife of Quicksilver. Each must face the new reality they are faced with and accept themselves as they are. But Ben Grimm, embarrassed by recent defeat at the hands of Dr. Doom, knows to lead he must gather together all of his friends. And he knows he doesn't have Mr. Fantastic's gift of scientific knowledge to be able to do anything about their freakish new appearances. So the new FF seek out the genius of the Mole Man, their first foe, who the Thing hopes may now take his hand in friendship once more.

At Project Pegasus, the new project chief Dr. Devere allows the FF access to the subterranean passage leading to the Lava Men's lair. But it's the Moloids, the Mole Man's nearly blind servitors, that attack the FF first. They explain their master has fled, leaving them at the mercy of the Lava Men. Making their way to the Mole Man's headquarters, they find Tyrannus' Tyrannoids have taken over the weaponry and machinery therein. A battle rages but the real test of power comes as the Mole Man is at last found and the Lava Men attack. Although the FF fight valiantly, the Lava Men capture the Mole Man and take him deep into their molten home. Can Ben Grimm and Ms. Marvel finally accept who they are at long last?
